Tuscola County, Michigan

Located in northwest Tuscola County, on the banks of Lake Huron, Akron Township is predominately an agricultural community.  This area of the county was originally settled in the early 1800s by Ebenezer Davis, a lumberman from New York.  Already an agricultural area, the forest fires that swept through the region in the late 1800s spurred the expansion of farming in the area.  Akron Township was chartered in 1856.
