Akron Township has contracted Richfield Management to provide curbside garbage and recycling pick-up to all residents of Akron Township.

• A $175 tax assesment to all dwellings on an annual basis for this service.
• Garbage pickup along with recycling is done on a weekly basis.
• Tubs are provided to area residents to encourage recycling.
• Large appliance pick-up with prior notice to Richfield Management at (989)-658-2594.

Every residence located north Bay Park Rd. and north of M-25 from the Coal Mine Corner to Unionville is picked up on Mondays and everything south of that line is picked up on Tuesday's. Because of our residents' excellent track record for the care they take in placing their garbage and recycling at the curbside we traditionally have received a very cost-effective rate from waste management.

Richfield Management curb-side recycling service includes:

• Plastic Bottles w/o caps
• Cereal Boxes
• Cardboard
• Clear glass bottles & jars w/o lids and labels
• Tin cans w/o lids, labels & bottoms

On the third Saturday of every month, Tuscola County Recycling has a trailer parked at Akron Township Hall from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m..

Please note that items sucj as used tires (small fee), motor oil, antifreeze, electronics, and vinyl siding can be taken to Tucola County Recycling on M-24 South of car at 1123 Mertz Rd., Caro.
